5 out of 5 stars Step by step guide   February 1, 2010
EKG Literary Magazine (www.ekgliterarymag.com)

There are several guides in print, and on TV, for women to use to assist them with getting their lives in order. In "A Purse of Your Own: An Easy Guide to Financial Security" Deborah Owens, a renowned wealth coach, teaches how women can gain their own sense of financial security.
Using the 7 Wealthy Habits, that can be used as daily financial mantras; she describes scenarios of different women who knew what they needed to do in order to obtain financial security. She also draws on examples of those women who discovered their own power of the purse by accident and those who simply did not know where to start, but were hungry for financial literacy. Owens takes us step by step on how to gain control and not fear money as some women.

Providing long-term tips on how to pick a reputable and trustworthy broker, Owens shows how everyday household brands are a great way to buy stocks. She also discusses traits women carry such as multi-tasking and nurturing that can be used when choosing to purchase mutual funds and bonds. I also appreciated the fact that although the author has an extensive background, she does not make learning all about financial growth too complicated. She gives free resources that are worthy to use in the future such as the Wall Street Journal and how to form an investment club.

One thing is for certain, the author is quick to point out that yes, we live in an economy that has and is still facing challenges. However, with a little faith, journal writing and good practice of financial education, women can reach their goals of financial growth.

Owens provides a book that is an investment worth every penny from every woman's purse.

This is a great financial guide written specifically for women by wealth coach Deborah Owens, who her self broke through the glass ceiling and became VP of Fidelity Investments. In her formers jobs as a financial advisor and VP of Fidelity, she's observed so much on how successful women gain and keep their wealth and she shares these tips and advice on many financial issues with her readers.

This book is basically a guide to financial security for women. Owens provides financial advice and how-to advice regarding picking stocks. Basically, all the financial wisdom a woman needs to "fill her own purse" can be found in these pages.

This is a great book. I recommend it for all women, but espeically believe it should be required reading for young women. The approach the author takes to investing is basic and easy to understand. The author keeps the attention of the reader with real-life examples of women we can identify with.

This book does not read like a text book.

The book covers investing, financial security and giving women tools to empower themselves to succeed.

Highly recommend.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. The follow up steps are so clear and easy to complete - if you are willing. The author is basically holding your hand walking you through all the while explaining how to successfully manage your finances.

Great book for women of all ages.
